Can’t believe #fangirlhealthclub was a week ago! Unfortunately our Geekling’s #Grinch window art isn’t visible here but get a load of our “Grinch faces”. Happy Holidays from us! 😠😏😆
I recently finished reading this book, some of it is just down right upsetting (à la #foodinc) but I learned a lot of new things too and really appreciated how @kristinwlawless focused on the societal disparities that cause people to eat the way they do. - It reinforces my choice to work in the way that I do, approaching wellness realistically with my clients. - One point from the book is that we should “Pay People to Cook at Home”. Stay-at-home parents could qualify for a program which gives them money for food while their children are young, avoiding paying for childcare and focusing on food and wellness. 👨‍👧 Those working could use “workplace policies that incentivize health, like “health days” that employees could use for health-promoting activities: shopping for food, cooking, or tending a community garden.” 👩🏾‍🌾 - What do you think? Are we set up to lose this food war? What would help you eat more ‘healthfully’? 🤔

Here's why I want you to know about the #PHITact; it's pending legislation which would allow Americans to open/use Pre-Tax Medical Accounts to pay for physical activity expenses including: Fitness classes or personal training, Health club/gym memberships, Sports league fees, Youth Camps and Sports/fitness Equipment! - If passed in congress it would help people gain access to fitness and as a result lower healthcare costs related to preventable illnesses. - If you also believe that wellness/fitness should be more accessible and want to save 20-30% for your and/or your family's physical activity expenses, including events like #FangirlHealthClub, please go to the link in my bio and make sure congress passes the #PHIT act! 🙌🏾
